#96: Nurture Your Intuition and Develop Psychic Powers

In your ongoing effort to fine-tune your body, mind, and spirit through healthy practices, you will naturally become more attuned to the world of spirit. Take a class or work with a teacher to develop your intuition and psychic powers.

These are God-given gifts. Everyone has these latent powers to some degree. You can choose to nurture them in order to improve communication with the angels. Try the following prayer if you need a little extra help to start developing clear communication with God and the angels.

Prayer For Clear Communication

Dear God and the angels, I have a profound desire to feel a deeper connection with you. Please help me to clear the pathways of communication so I may easily receive your loving messages of divine guidance. My desire is to hear clearly, see clearly, and feel clearly. Help me to understand and have a clear knowing of what the messages mean. Thank you for all your help as I journey toward a deeper connection with the divine.

Another technique for nurturing your intuition so that you might be able to more easily recognize the holy presence of the angels is to concentrate on the heart chakra. As you dive deeply into meditation in the temple of your own heart, you can perceive continuous sounds, including “AUM,” tinkling bells, and knocking. This “AUM,” however, is the supreme sound. (It has been said that “AUM” is both energy and consciousness.) It is the subtle energy vibration that underlies all of creation. You can drown in the river of that sound and awaken into the consciousness of divine mind. In the Yoga Sutra III, verse 35, it states that “In the heart is understanding of the mind.” In the New Testament, Jesus refers to the sound in the heart when he says, “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice and open the door, I will come in to him ….” (Revelation 3:20). Sacred sound or the word of God occupies a preeminent place in the teachings of many great religious traditions. Angels can make their presence known through the sudden tinkling of wind chimes or knocking or other unusual and unexpected sounds.

An ancient form of yoga that deals with light and sound is known as shabda yoga. For thousands of years, rishis (Hindu sages), seers, and yoga practitioners of shadbda yoga have emphasized that their knowledge did not come from outside sources but rather from their intuition, psychic experiences, and experiential knowledge of the inner worlds. Shams Tabrizi, the thirteenth-century Sufi mystic (widely regarded as the teacher of the poet-mystic Rumi who stumbled through the streets of Konya, Turkey, drunk with love for the divine), declared that creation came into being from sound or word. The New Testament, Saint John’s gospel, opens with, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

Go into your heart and listen. Follow the sound. It is a path to God. It will lead you into the presence of the divine. As Shams Tabrizi counseled, “Hark with the soul’s ear to the sounds innumerable.” The mystic was referring to the sounds that could not be heard with ears. Such inner sacred sounds can be heard in meditation and their meaning derived through the power of your intuition or inner divine guidance.
